Financial Controller

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of Next Dimension Inc. and it’s affiliates, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Management

  1. Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  2. Manage outsourced functions
  3. Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives
  4. Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.

Transactions

  1. Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
  2. Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
  3. Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
  4. Process payroll in a timely manner
  5. Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
  6. Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
  7. Maintain the chart of accounts
  8. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  9. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions

Reporting

  1. Issue timely and complete financial statements
  2. Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
  3. Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  4. Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics on a monthly basis
  5. Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  6. Manage and report on company cash flow
  7. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  8. Provide for a system of management cost reports
  9. Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

Compliance

  1. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  2. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  3. Comply with Provincial and Federal Government reporting requirements and tax filings

 

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the product/service catalog and how it relates to company needs
  • Manage a team of three individuals
  • Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities
  • Responsible for entering time and expenses in ConnectWise as it occurs
  • May need to travel to meetings/events, or spend infrequent time away from office
  • Attend industry events relevant to Next Dimension’s products, services and clients

Sales Engineer

We are currently seeking a highly skilled sales engineer with the drive and determination to help us support our sales efforts. We are looking for an individual with a strong I.T. background and the skills to provide pre- and post-sales support for our account managers to help them identify customer needs and develop solutions to address them. Our sales engineers are responsible for supporting inside and outside sales teams in making technical recommendations to customers and providing information and making technical presentations to help close technical sales. In addition, our sales engineers provide technical training to customers and their staff on hardware and software and will communicate on a peer level with IT professionals within customer accounts to quickly and accurately recommend and communicate solution strategies.

Required Technical qualifications include (i.e. these qualifications are required to be considered)

  • 7+ Years working on Cisco networking hardware, including the following: Routers, Switches, ASA’s, WAP, and Content Filtering Solutions
  • Experience with dynamic routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF & BGP)
  • Experience configuring AnyConnect with authentication handled by RADIUS/LDAP or complete DAP solutions
  • Experience configuring IPSec, GRE, DMVPN, and other VPN technologies
  • Experience configuring H-QoS
  • Experience with MPLS/VPLS networks and label-switching – either as provider or customer
  • Ability to explain MPLS P Router, PE router and CE router functions within a network
  • Ability to explain the difference between Policing and Shaping, and use cases for each
  • Fluent in IOS and IOS XE platform commands

Linux Systems Engineer

Net Direct is a leader in providing quality IT services and solutions throughout South Western Ontario and across Canada. Our difference lies resides in our specialization on Linux and Open Source solutions and complex systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional with skills in Red Hat or other Linux systems and strong communication and problem solving skills to take the next step in their career. We are a busy and stable IT solutions provider where the successful candidate will work on a variety of projects, administration tasks, implementation of complex systems and monitoring of Storage (NAS/SAN) and Linux servers. With a recent re-organization of the company’s IT group and a move to new facilities, this role presents the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, modifying and troubleshooting scripts on Red Hat Linux Servers and supporting clients on Open Systems, Windows and Virtual environments. This role has broad responsibility to support a number of clients in Networking, Open Systems and Storage as well as the company’s data centre and disaster recovery both on-site and in a virtual/remote setting. Troubleshooting software and support for network related technical operational and equipment issues is also required. Some after hours on-call support will be required for mission critical applications.

Required Experience and Qualifications

    • Minimum 3 years of experience designing, implementing, managing and troubleshooting Linux or Unix, Networking and Storage systems in an enterprise environment.
    • Experience supporting standard Unix services (BIND, Sendmail, Postfix, NFS, FTP, SSH, etc.)
    • Minimum of 2 years current experience supporting operation, administration and troubleshooting of Linux systems and Linux servers in a VMware environment.
    • Understanding of file systems and logical volume management and optimizations.
    • Experience with SAN fabrics and zoning (Brocade, Cisco FCOE).
    • Experience with backup theories, technologies and software including disk-to-disk backups, tape backup technology and backup to cloud services.
    • Experience backing up virtual and physical servers, workstations and storage.
    • Red Hat Linux certifications preferred.
    • Experience with configuring/supporting Apache/Tomcat a plus.
    • Experience with Supercomputing (specifically Rocks) clusters.
    • Programming skills in PHP, Python, C/C++, Java.
    • Experience with technologies such as Zimbra, Zabbix, Puppet will be considered definite assets.

Qualifications include:

  • The ideal candidate will have 3+ years development experience with Python, PHP, Java and JavaScript – ideally with 2 or more of these languages.
  • A solid understanding of version control systems (ie. Git) is also required.

Suggested Skills:

Minimum qualifications. Applicants should have an degree in computer engineering or related field, or they should have a bachelor’s degree and work experience with:

  • Python or PHP (Required)
  • 1 of (JavaScript; Java ) (Required)
